Auburn is the fastest growing city in Alabama with approximately 90,000 people in the Auburn/Opelika area and is home to more than 27,000 students at Auburn University. Our journey to planting in Auburn has been shaped by two specific burdens. First, a conviction to see multi-ethnic churches planted in the South as a clear demonstration that the gospel unites people despite racial and political divisions. Secondly, the belief that college towns are an under-resourced but strategic mission field, uniquely positioned to advance the Kingdom domestically and internationally. We cannot wait to live and work in a place where these two passions are combined. Our desire is for Union Church to be a gospel-saturated community that equips and sends out missionaries locally and internationally.

Listen to a sermon Chris preached at Providence Road in which he shared the purpose and vision behind church planting in Auburn/Opelika.
